A glorious sunny morning was the backdrop to Leeds Under 11's second home match of the season. Leeds won the toss but from the whistle it was the visitors who looked the greater threat. Leeds with their chosen 4-4-2 formation had their back line of Sam Armstrong, Aaron Wilcock, Liam Dyer and Callum Hamilton together with first half keeper Scott Graham under some early pressure from the visitors. Leeds were soon to get into their stride with nice link up play in the midfield from Luke Bennett, Dan Bambrook, Sam Vasey and Jake Croft. A couple of early efforts on goal by the strike force of Sheldon Muzvidziwa and Adam Leadsford were ably dealt with by Scarborough's keeper. The first real threat on goal came 10 minutes in for Leeds, when a Vasey free kick from outside the box beat the keeper only to be denied by the cross bar.
Thirteen minutes in it was Scarborough who broke the stalemate. A lofted free kick over the two man wall of Bennett and Hamilton was parried by Leeds' keeper Graham only to the edge of the 6 yard box and the feet of a waiting Scarborough player who slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Leeds were soon to equalise when on 16 minutes a searching cross from Vasey went to the feet of Leadsford who fired the ball into the back of the net. Substitutions of Graham, Hamilton and Muzvidziwa and Croft were to make way for Dan Resendez, Harry Shelborn,Tom Schofield and Sam Bellerby.
Resendez was soon to be called into action, to deny Scarborough with a great save as he palmed a free kick onto the cross bar. The next attack saw lovely passing play between Vasey and Leadsford that culminated in a lovely volleyed effort from the boot of Bennett from outside of the Scarborough penalty area to make it Leeds 2 Scarborough 1.
A sustained period of activity in the Scarborough half led to Leeds' 3rd goal. A ball from Hamilton to Muzvidziwa on the bye line who with a skilful back heal set up Croft who in turn teed the ball up for Schofield to convert Leeds' 3rd goal.
Despite further end to end play and a useful goal attempt from Dan Bambrook that hit the post, the score was to stay at Leeds 3 Scarborough 1 to end an assured Leeds performance against a well organised Scarborough side.
