Leeds u12's v Bradford u12's ( 5 - 0 )- Sat 24th Oct 2009
Leeds u12's got back to winning ways in style against local rivals Bradford on a damp & misty morning at St.Theresa's.
Leeds started well and had plenty of possession but failed to create any clear cut chances until the 10th minute when Lee Rowley hit a good shot just wide.
The Leeds defence of Michael O'Donoughue, Lawrence Wilson, Danny Sefton and Tom Elliott were strong and impressive, winning everything at the back and launching some good balls forward to put pressure on Bradford. On 20 minutes a Leeds free kick to the right of the pen area was struck well by Michael O'D and almost went in, but was cleared at the last minute having initially beaten the keeper.
More attacking play by Leeds just failed to produce an opening goal and the first half ended goalless. HT 0-0.
Bradford started the second half strongly and created a few good chances and a succession of corners in the first 10 minutes but the Leeds defence held firm and managed to keep Bradford out...however this sparked Leeds into life, and on 40 minutes a good forward pass from Joe Firth put Jamie Tonkinson clear and despite a few offside claims Jamie finished well to open the scoring for Leeds. 1-0.
On 47 mins another good pass from Lee Rowley put Scott Townend clear and Scott smashed a superb shot from the edge of the box high over the keeper into the net for Leeds' second. 2-0.
Leeds were rampant now and on 53 mins another good forward pass put Jamie 'Maradonna' Tonkinson clear again albeit with a suspicion of handball, but the ref played on ( just like Mexico 1986 ), and Jamie finished well again, 3-0.
Two minutes later a Grady Marshall shot smacked a post, then on 57 minutes a great pass from Scott Townend through the defence played Kristian Smith in and Kristian smashed another superb shot high into the top corner, 4-0.
In the last minute Jamie Tonkinson grabbed his hat-trick from close in to round off a good win for Leeds, 5-0....
