 SATURDAY 11 OCTOBER 2008 - LEEDS u13   V   BARNSLEY u13

Another warm morning at St. Theresa's.  Leeds started sprightly with Spen Lund sending in a good ball to the Barnsley box which was met by Callum Pilkington who headed just over the bar.

The first goal came from a Barnsley corner which was cleared by Sam Chippendale to Niall Heaton who showed great control in bringing the ball down and setting up a one on one situation for Jamie Lloyd against the Barnsley keeper.  Jamie kept his cool and lobbed the keeper superbly to make it 1-0.

Despite Leeds having most of the possession it was clear that Barnsley were going to be a hard nut to crack.  Ten minutes into the game following pressure on the Leeds defence they equalised when their left winger sent over a looping shot from the edge of the box giving Leeds keeper, Josh Walsh, no chance. 1-1

As the game progressed Leeds continued to monopolise possession but every challenge was hard fought with no quarter given by either side.  It was down to Ben Nyaswenta to regain the lead when he made a brilliant run down the right wing and sent over an inviting cross which again found Callum Pilkington. Callum despatched an assured header to make the score 2-1 at half time.

Barnsley came out battling in the second half and were quick to take advantage of a mix up in the Leeds defence.  The centre forward won possession on the half way line and with a surging run and accurate finish he equalised with a fine individual goal.

2-2.

Leeds responded again with Ben Nyaswenta surging down the right delivered a superb cross which the Barnsley keeper fumbled allowing Callum Pilkington to tap in his second. 3-2.

Nelson  Nditah was the provider of the next Leeds goal when he latched onto a ball from Will Boyle just inside the Barnsley box.  His powerful shot was goal bound before it hit the Barnsley defender but the deflection was ceased on by Callum Pilkington who bravely headed past the oncoming keeper. 4-2.

This was a scrappy and physical game though Leeds always looked the likely winners. There were exceptional performances from Jamie Lloyd, Ben Nyaswenta and Callum Pilkington.
