 Saturday 8 November 2008     ESFA Cup under 13   Leeds 8   Durham 1

A one-sided game in which Leeds dominated throughout without getting into top gear.

The first goal came on five minutes following good work down the right between Spen and Mitch Lund.  Spen fed the ball to the left and luke Porritt delivered a superb cross to the far post. Mitch Lund continued his run and met the ball at pace firing a fierce shot into the top corner. 1-0

The next goal came on twelve minutes. Thomas Turner won the ball in the centre and fed it to Will Boyle, Will picked out Callum Pilkington with a slide rule pass and, using his 'weaker' left foot, Callum drilled a low hard shot passed the Durham keeper. 2-0

The pressure continued and the lead was extended on the thirty minutes when Niall Heaton received the ball on the half way line and made a powerful run down the centre before coolly sliding the ball passed the oncoming keeper. Half-time 3-0

The second half started with a rare attack from Durham. Following a melee in the Leeds box, Durham were awarded a penalty which was accurately despatched by their number eight, Reece Wood.  The same player came close five minutes later when his long range shot looked goal bound but was plucked out of the air by the safe hands of Leeds keeper, Josh Walsh. 3-1

Leeds responded immediately, Niall Heaton heading home his second from a well delivered corner by Josh Barden. Niall's hat-trick came on forty five minutes when he fired in an unstoppable shot after being set up by another superb pass from Will Boyle. 5-1

Luke Porritt made the sixth Leeds goal with a surging run down the left and a pinpoint cross for Callum Pilkington to bag his second with an assured finish.6-1

The seventh and perhaps best goal came from a great passage of play between Luke Porritt, Will Boyle and Jamie Lloyd. Their neat triangle of passes left Durham chasing their tales and resulted in Jamie unleashing a superb shot into the top corner.7-1

A Josh Robson 'tackle and feed' started the move for the final goal. He released  Ben Nyaswenta down the right who forced his way into the area then resisted the temptation to shoot and unselfishly rolled the ball into Jamie's Lloyd's path to tap in. Final score 8-1.

An excellent overall team performance.
